The Vomiting Was a Bit Concerning - Nafees Iqbal on Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Injury Scare
Bangladesh team operations manager Nafees Iqbal said the team took a cautious approach after Mehidy Hasan Miraz suffered a head injury during the second ODI against Australia. He revealed that the captain's vomiting on the field raised concerns and led to his hospitalization for observation.
"He (Mehidy) was under observation for almost 12 hours at Evercare Hospital. As you know, he received a blow to the head from a bouncer and vomited, which was a bit concerning," Nafees Iqbal said in a video message released by the BCB on Friday.
Miraz was struck on the side of his helmet by a bouncer from Australian fast bowler Nathan Ellis during Bangladesh's run chase. Following the impact, Bangladesh physio Bayjedul Islam Khan and the Australian team doctor assessed him on the field.
Despite feeling discomfort and vomiting during the medical assessment, Miraz chose to continue batting. The Bangladesh captain remained unbeaten on 22 off 22 balls and hit a six to help his team complete the chase and secure a five-wicket DLS victory.
