Nitish Kumar Reddy was elated after producing a sensational bowling performance for India in the second T20I against Afghanistan at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday, September 15. India chased down the target inside 15 overs with seven wickets in hand. With this win, the Men in Blue sealed the T20I series 2-0 against Afghanistan.

It was a really special show by the youngster, as all three of his wickets came with the very first ball of his three overs in the second T20I against Afghanistan, which earned him the Player of the Match award.
Nitish Kumar Reddy entered the attack in the ninth over and ended a dangerous 51-run partnership between Ibrahim Zadran and Sediqullah Atal. His first delivery was hit by Ibrahim Zadran towards deep mid-wicket, where he was caught after scoring 37.
When Reddy returned in the 11th over, Gulbadin Naib top-edged a length delivery, and Sanju Samson ensured his wicket for 10. Reddy then returned in the final over and once again struck with his first ball. The Indian all-rounder removed the dangerous Rashid Khan for 28.

Reddy’s performance left everyone impressed, as he has just returned from injury. He suffered a serious left quadriceps injury while bowling during the first ODI against Afghanistan in June 2026. The all-rounder also spoke about his extra pace, saying it has always been an important part of his goal to become the greatest all-rounder. Reddy explained, “I feel great. I always wanted to become the greatest all-rounder, and for that I wanted that extra pace, which I'm getting. You will have the pros and cons, and I'm working on not getting frequently injured and (staying) fit.”
Reddy also bounced back brilliantly after an expensive first T20I, where he conceded 30 runs in two overs, and it was the result of his strong belief in his ability. He signed off by saying, “I would say it's all about trusting your ability and (making) that comeback, and I was just believing in myself. It's a funny game; anything can change in a moment.”
