Former West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo and legendary fast bowler Ian Bishop have been named the first inductees into the newly established Caribbean Premier League (CPL) Hall of Fame. The honour recognizes their major contributions to the tournament and Caribbean cricket.
The Caribbean Premier League is the leading T20 franchise competition in the Caribbean, bringing together top local and international players each season. Seven teams are competing for places in the playoffs in the 2026 edition. Barbados Tridents, led by Chris Green, are currently at the top of the table.
Dwayne Bravo Becomes First CPL Hall of Fame Inductee in Player Category
Dwayne Bravo has become the first cricketer to enter the Caribbean Premier League Hall of Fame under the player category. The 42-year-old played in the tournament from its inaugural season in 2013 until 2024 and established himself as one of the most successful players.
Bravo made 107 CPL appearances, including 89 for Trinbago Knight Riders. He scored more than 1,000 runs and took 129 wickets during his career. The all-rounder also won five CPL titles, lifting the trophy four times with Trinbago and once as captain of St Kitts & Nevis Patriots.
The former West Indies all-rounder also enjoyed a successful career across other major T20 competitions. His CPL record remains a major part of his legacy, with his consistency and all-round performances.
Ian Bishop Earns Hall of Fame Honour for Commentary Contribution
Former West Indies fast bowler and renowned commentator Ian Bishop has also been named among the inaugural CPL Hall of Fame inductees. He will enter under the non-player category after contributing to the league's growth since its first season in 2013.
Bishop has been part of the CPL commentary team since the tournament began and has played an important role in connecting the competition with viewers around the world. His knowledge, delivery and reputation have made him one of the most recognised voices associated with Caribbean cricket.
His wider commentary career has also produced several memorable moments. Bishop's commentary during the West Indies' 2016 T20 World Cup triumph remains one of the most celebrated moments of his broadcasting career.
CPL Hall of Fame Ceremony to Take Place on September 15
The CPL and Cricket West Indies jointly created the Hall of Fame to recognise people who have made lasting contributions to the competition. Bravo and Bishop will form the inaugural class, with their respective achievements covering both on-field success and the growth of the tournament.
The first induction ceremony will take place at a gala dinner in Barbados on September 15. The event is scheduled one day before the CPL 2026 playoffs begin in the island nation, allowing current players and other stakeholders to attend the celebration.
Bravo’s five CPL titles, more than 1,000 runs and 129 wickets earned him a place in the player category. Bishop earned the non-player honour through his long association with the league and his contribution to its global growth.
