Pakistan wicketkeeper Sidra Nawaz was involved in a massive fielding blunder with her teammate Natalia Pervaiz, dropping a catch in a comic mix-up.
India were asked to bat first after the match referee’s mistake at the toss. The openers showed promise but couldn’t convert their starts into big scores. Harleen Deol scored 46 from 65 deliveries, including four boundaries and one six. By the end of the 49th over, India had reached 236 for the loss of eight wickets.

The drop reminded fans of the Pakistan men’s team’s famous fielding blunders. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media. However, Baig dismissed Goud and Renuka Singh in consecutive deliveries, as India were bowled out for 247 in 50 overs.

The match faced an unusual interruption when pests disrupted play, forcing players to leave the field for some time. Jemimah Rodrigues said the situation made her focus even more, as visibility was limited. She also noted that the pitch was challenging, having been covered for 48 hours.
"To be honest, I had to concentrate a lot more because you could not see much, but you have to do what you have to do," Rodrigues said.
"It was not an easy pitch because it was covered for 48 hours. Moisture on the pitch and that was giving it a bit of hold. This is a fighting total for us," she added.

Pakistan were bowled out for 159 in 43 overs. Sidra Amin scored 81 off 106 balls and became the first Pakistani woman to hit a six against India in ODIs. Kranti Goud was the star with the ball, taking 3/20, while Deepti Sharma and Sneh Rana picked up important wickets to help India win by 88 runs.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led team regained the top spot on the points table with four points and a net run rate of +1.505. Meanwhile, Pakistan Women suffered their second consecutive loss at the World Cup, after losing their opening match to Bangladesh Women.
India Women are now unbeaten against Pakistan in ODIs, with a record of 12-0. Before the match, Indian T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav had spoken about the growing difference between the two sides in women’s cricket.
